The prpl Foundation is a community-driven, open-source organization focused on building a future-proof platform for embedded devices and promoting innovation within the broadband ecosystem.

The prpl Foundation drives collaborative open-source development for carrier-grade software, creating open API specifications and industry standards for broadband CPE. Focused on Network Operator needs, this community initiative fosters shared innovation to advance next-generation broadband through interoperable open standards and APIs, benefiting operators and end-users.

Developing open-source software for carrier-grade CPE is intended to accelerate the introduction of new services and the deployment of advanced devices for network providers. By utilizing modular software and open standards, this approach seeks to lower total ownership costs and broaden vendor options, thereby preventing vendor lock-in. This community-driven, open environment promotes rapid innovation in CPE.

Developing open-source software for carrier-grade CPE aims to help Network providers introduce new services faster, deploy advanced devices quicker, lower total ownership costs via modular software and open standards, and democratize vendor options to avoid lock-in. This fosters rapid CPE innovation through community collaboration and openness.

The prpl Foundation brings together Service Providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers, 3rd party System Integrators, Chip Vendors, and Application Developers to harmonize home network architecture. It then commonizes a reference implementation of standardized open-source infrastructure built atop open API specifications and open industry standards. prpl enables a service delivery ecosystem including innovative third-party applications that can be quickly and easily deployed across different CPE platforms.

The prpl Foundation fosters collaboration and interoperability, challenging proprietary boundaries to drive innovation. Working Groups develop a common software baseline for the future, guided by Steering Committees, the Board of Directors, a Technical Steering Committee (TSC), a Product Steering Committee (PSC), and a Marketing Committee. The TSC executes technical projects approved by the Board.

The prpl Foundation is proud to have members who are titans within their respective industries. Our collaborative efforts ensure that we stay ahead of the curve in shaping the future of connected devices.
We welcome new members to join our mission.
